Flashing lite-on 83 with jungle flasher 1.66b

quick note before i start this guide... do not use your probe on this drive, it will fry the probe and make it useless

also note port io drives need to be installed and via drivers uninstalled.

this flash was done with ck3 pro, and via chip set

things you will need

VIA chipset, or other compatible
connectivity kitv3
JungleFlasher 1.66b [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register]
Ixtreme 1.6 for lite83c [Only Registered Users Can See LinksClick Here To Register]


Step 1. Obtaining Dummy.bin
Please Note: Dummy.bin is not Original firmware, it is [FAKE] firmware based on
the structure of an Original firmware file, this makes everything easier to work
with.

*Connect your 83850c to your PC via S-ATA, power on and run JungleFlasher
v0.1.66b.

2* Select DVDKey32 Tab
Check to see the 83850c Inquires on the port.


3* Select LO83info

You will see this message:

Here you must set the tray to ‘Half Closed’,
Please ensure you have the drive fresh / power cycled after setting Half Open
Tray, this is essential. Then, click OK (power the drive off, close it half way, power it back on)
JungleFlasher will then send the LO83info command to the drive; you will see the
following in the Running Log

4* Within a few seconds, you will also be prompted with an instruction from
JungleFlasher to set the drive to full Open Tray status( you do this buy pulling it to the full open position, do not use the eject buton during the course of the key dump)

DO NOT POWER CYCLE THE DRIVE WHEN PULLING IT INTO THE FULLY OPEN POSITION; DOING SO WILL RESULT IN A
BAD/FAILED DUMP!!!!
5* Once tray is fully ejected, click OK
If the dump appears to JungleFlasher that it was valid, JungleFlasher will prompt
you to power on with half open tray again(power off, close half way, power back on). As with the original command, please
ensure the drive is fresh / power cycled before continuing.

6* Once this is set, click OK
JungleFlasher will then ask you to set full open tray again
Move the tray to the fully ejected position and click OK

Save this file.


7* Once saved, JungleFlasher will load Dummy.bin as Source Firmware in FirmwareTool32 and
prompt you to auto load iXtreme 1.6 for LiteOn 83850c’s

Upon loading target if you do it manually you will need to click spoof to target to ensure that the key is transfered to ixtreme.

****please note !!!!!!!! ixtreme1.6 for 83c drives is required..... reg ixtreme will not work*****

8* Next go to your mtk flash tab and click liteon erase
it will ask you, are you sure you want to erase. click yes.....
then it will ask you, are you absolutely sure you want to do its. upon clicking yes you will need to power cycle your drive withing about 1-2 seconds

9* once this is completed you are looking for your flash chip properties to load up with your vendor id, device id. if nothing loads up do not continue, it will not brick your drive if you flash it, but it will not play games.

10* upon verification of flash chip properties you will click write

11* once the flash is completed make sure you click the outro/ata reset tab otherwise your drive will remain in vendor mode

pop your drive back into your xbox and have some fun

----sorry there is no pics for 8-11, i was doing this from memory, and using another guide, but the other one didn't have pics past the drive cyling. as soon as i crack open another 83 i will update last section with pictures----

**possible problems**

a problem that occured when i flashed my first 83 drive was i accidently closed jf. when i booted back into jf it would not see my drive. after you complete your open/half open sequence your drive enters vendor mode, while in jungle flasher if your drive becomes unrecognizable click the intro/drive id key and it will reload your drive.

still have not had one of these yet and i have flashed 8 xbox's this week all with liteon's but non with the new one strange i think

i flashed them all with the via drives installed will post here if i get one of these drives and it works or not with the drivers

I 've done a few early Liteon DVDs,bricked one ! my fault forgot to "save to file "before i flashed , but not the new 8350 yet ,hope will be OK .Thanks for the clearly instruction

i have flashed 13teen xbox in the last two weeks 6 on em where liteons
others where benq's

i still have not seen one of these drives i don't know whats going on over here lol
