Which Xbox?

I've been out of the scene for a while so I haven't been keeping up to date with the facts, but once again, the time has come to find a new 360.

First one. RROD and I fried the board lol (sold for 20bux)
Second one, recently RROD (fixed RROD but no video)
Third one, RROD repaired, but it doesn't have a correct dvd key, therefore it is useless for games.

All 3 of those systems were the older non-HDMI models and all had Samsung drives.

Since then, I have recently upgraded to a Plasma (Panasonic PZ80), so I'm thinking its time for an xbox with HDMI.

Question is, should I be looking at the Elite/Halo edition? or the new Arcade editions?
Please keep in mind I still have all my backups.. so an easier modding dvd-drive would be appreciated. Or.. if I could use my Sammy drives again in a HDMI system?

Just get a cheap ass arcade but make sure its Jasper chipset.Theres ways of telling from the box code,MFR date etc.
Its not ESSENTIAL but considering your track record of luck (and repairs lol!) id suggest that one.
certain Elites and Halos contained the Falcon chipset which had issues with rrod despite M$ insistance that the failure percentile had been slashed dramatically.It does seem though that the Jasper has managed to succeed (for the majority!) in reducing issues,id guess this is down to the fact that its the first incarnation to have a radical upheaval with now having one simplified Cpu/Gpu in one thus reducing heat,stress,work load etc
This is off the top of my head so please correct me if im a bit out on somethings.
Oh and dont lose your DVD key again,not a good look!

Halo is a Falcon chip and Elite is a bit over priced normally [also tend to be older stock i find]

yeah get the arcade one with the internal mem i'm toled they have a even newer motherboard than the falcon chip set one has

Thanks all for the reply.. and like ddsdavey said, my luck hasn't been too good.. So hopefully this time after making a real investment/purchase.. this one will last me forever.

Kinda sucks though, because I'm probably going to pick up a brand new one.. and the minute I get home.. that warranty will be gone :D.
