Bypass PS3 FW Updates
There comes a time when we all get tired of updating the PS3 every other week, we just get online and do some gaming right? Or we want to stay on a certain firmware so we can use a certain PS3 hack? Here's a couple of ways to skip the updates...
1/ Quick and easy, we present you the fake DNS name server method. Go into your PS3's Network settings Set the DNS nameservers to Custom/Manual Change both of them to: 67.202.81.137 That's it... 2/ Logan5's Proxy Tool Run the LG5tool exe Click on the firmware update box so its unchecked Click start proxy it will show you your IP address Go to PS3 and click network settings Click on internet connection settings Click on the custom method Click wireless or wired (what ever you are using) Wireless users only (Click to View) Click do not set for "DHCP host name" Click automatic for "DNS settings" Click auto matic for "MTU" Click use for "Proxy Server" Type in your IP address that shows in LG5tool it'll be something like "192.168.x.xxx" (the x are numbers that are different for every one for example mine is 192.168.1.110) Click enable for "UPNP" Now test your connection Download Logan5 Proxy Tool Both methods currently work fine, have fun. Update: Both of these methods have now been blocked as of 10/09/10

RE: Bypass PS3 FW Updates
Hello all,
I tried to use the bypass application, but unfortunately I get the following error: Quote:component 'mswinsck.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid. I'm working on Windows 7, and am using the 64-bit architecture. I'm not using a virus scanner. Many thanks in advance, Aniblaze |

RE: Bypass PS3 FW Updates
1. Make sure MSWINSCK.OCX is located in \Windows\System32 (if missing - google it)
2. Run Command Prompt as Administrator. 3. Use the following command to register: regsvr32 mswinsck.ocx |

RE: Bypass PS3 FW Updates
Using Logan's Tool, it works fine here. Sony can suck it.
